Our History

Straube’s Aircraft Services was founded by Jim Straube on the island of Maui, Hawaii, in 1985.

In 1994, Straube’s Aircraft Services was relocated to Kingman, Arizona, where Jim’s brother, Rick Straube and his son, Sean Straube, joined the family owned and operated aircraft painting and refinishing business.

Jim Straube continued to provide aircraft painting and refinishing services in Hawaii, as well as Arizona.

In 1999, Straube’s Aircraft Services Hawaii was reestablished on the island of Oahu to better serve the State of Hawaii. Jim was then joined by his sons, Jacob and Jeremiah Straube. Straube’s Aircraft Services was awarded a GSA Schedule contract (GS-06F-0078P) in September of 2004 to paint and refurbish aircraft and aircraft related equipment for the Federal Government.

In 2006, Straube’s formed an aircraft painting and refinishing mobile crew that has provided quality mobile aircraft paint services across the USA and Japan. The aircraft painting mobile crew first began its work on damaged aircraft and static displays in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. To date, the aircraft painting and refinishing mobile crew has refurbished static displays across the USA and abroad. Most recently noted are the Saturn V rocket out of Mississippi and the Lyndon B Johnson Jet Star that is housed in Texas.

In the spring of 2007, Straube’s Aircraft Services began working with Leonardo Helicopters as their in- house paint contractor at their Philadelphia, PA, assembly facility. This facility specializes in the painting of newly manufactured helicopters.
